What is Rotary?

Rotary International is a volunteer organization of leaders who provide humanitarian service and help to build worldwide goodwill and peace. There are approximately 1.2 million Rotary club members belonging to 33,000 Rotary clubs in over 200 countries.

Our emphasis is community service and the support of our elementary, middle and high schools. We have a diverse membership and are one of the few Clubs where the presidents of our Interact Clubs are treated as members.

What is the purpose of Rotary?

image3

Rotary clubs exist to improve communities through a range of humanitarian, intercultural and educational activities. Clubs advance international understanding by partnering with clubs in other countries. Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe, in our communities and in ourselves. Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. For more than 110 years, Rotary’s people of action have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world, and we stay committed to the end.

What do Rotary clubs do?

image4

Rotary clubs address critical issues at home and abroad by providing health care and medical supplies, clean water, food, job training, youth development, and education to millions of people in need. We are proud to support a wide array of causes in Hillsborough, the United States, and around the globe, providing hands-on volunteer opportunities for our members to make a direct impact on our local and international communities.

What is the 4-Way Test?

image5

Rotarians apply the 4-Way Test when faced with an opportunity/project:

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
